Landoir Reinheart Design

This is a more serious design of how I invision fictional hero Landoir Reinheart.

A comic called Next Hope: An England Football Story

Football is a passion shared by a majority of the country and there's one thing that the English have in common, the bitter disappointment we all suffer when England fail to deliver.

Next Hope is my way of irradicating all the disappointment I've suffered by following our national side, which I do with pride of course. Baxter Whibley (above) is a young and talented footballer who at a young age showed immense promise as a gifted footballer. Next Hope follows Baxter's journey from being a naive local league player to leading England to glory and returning the glory days to his native land. It's a tale not to be missed....

Introducing...Landoir Reinheart

This is Landoir Reinheart, a fictional character created for a story I am 'working on' (in the loosest possible term) called Phoenix of Kalhiem.

Landoir is a special character, who despite being born a human bares the physical and mental attributes of being far more powerful. Landoir earns a reputation as the greatest guardian of his generation, perhaps even the greatest in history. His gold like speed and precision in combat makes him a worthy ally and a torrid enemy.

Hopefully one day Landoir will exist on a larger stage than just being a ficticious character that exists only in my head.

Fanart.....Sonic Boom!

As well as creating my own characters I sometimes venture into the fan-art realm. If you know Capcom's popular Street Fighter series you should know that this guy packs one hell of a Sonic Boom.....
Street Fighter- Just call me Guile

Creating Characters....

Right, here's the process- take a rough sketch and import it into a computer using a scanner. Shade beforehand if necessary and ensure that all the lines are drawn thick and dark so that the scanner can pick up the details of the sketch.

Image to the Right
Using the paint fill tool colour the sections of design such as hair, skin and clothing using different colours on the pallette. Add shading and highlight effects by using off-colours for the main section, for example on the hair I used a white brush effect and then used a tool called liquify to give the spike effect. For the clothing I used a darker grey to highlight folds in the material.
Image to the Left
I kept this image very similar to the original scan, only incorporating a 'hair effect' brush tool. I used a darker brush for the hair around the ears to show a variation in hair colour. Using the highlight tool I added a lighting effect on the hair to show where the light would reflect off the character's head.
The images were produced using a pencil, a marker pen and the Photoshop design package.

TAGadan.com, Home of the Web-Comic! Coming Soon.

TAGadan.com is a working progress and has been for longer than I would like but here is the vision of the project, which will be launching later this year.

Comics
The heart of the web site, which will feature storybook comics from a number of genres and drawing styles. The comics section will be split into two groups Long running and One shot comics. Long Running comics will feature frequently consisting of unique characters specific to a contuning episodic story book whereas One shots will be 'off the cuff' comics where characters and plot lines will only feature once.

Sketches
The sketches section will act as a gallery of character images designed specifically for the TAGadan project.

Multimedia
The multimedia section will feature content that site visitors can use or download, such as wallpapers, avatars and hopefully in the future character animations and sound clips.

Creators
The creators section introduces the site creators and lists minor personal details such as interests, background and our inspirations for creating the TAGadan project.
TAG Us
The TAG Us section allows visitors to the site to email us directly and comment on aspects of the site.

The site will be packed with great ideas, fun and diverse characters all of which have been designed and implemented by only two 'artists'. So when TAGadan.com goes live be sure to check back as the site grows in 2009.

Introduction

Greetings to those who have shown interest in checking out my blog. I am new here and not entirely sure I know what I am doing yet but I thought I should introduce what I hope to achieve with this blog.

I am 27-years old and have a keen interest in drawing and creating characters, which has been a hobby of mine for many years.

I am currently in the process of creating a web-comic site with a friend of mine. The website acts as a portfolio to project our artistic abilities onto and gives us a chance to express our interests in character and written work. I will be uploading some examples of my artwork here for people to view and comment on and I hope to have the web-comic site http://www.tagadan.com/ up and running very soon.
Do not hesitate to check back for updates if this blog is of interest.
